This Ecoduct is one of the oldest of its kind in the Netherlands and it successfully provides a safe passage for wildlife in this forested area. When it was built in 1988, a solution was searched for to prevent soil erosion at the slopes at both sides facing the highway. This was achieved with EnkaMat.

EnkaMat is a 3D erosion prevention mat that holds soil and provides a strong foothold for vegetation. It reinforces the natural erosion protection (vegetation), leading to green yet well-protected slopes. In this case for more than 30 years already!
