How EnkaGrid geogrids reliably reinforce roads and rail structures
Single or multiple layers of EnkaGrid geogrids absorb forces originating from road and rail traffic, both longitudinally and in a transverse direction. This inhibits deformation and the development of rutting in the surface. As such, both geogrids help significantly increase the service life of the finished structure while minimizing required maintenance. Additionally, especially during the construction of roads, EnkaGrid geogrids often provide substantial cost savings. This is because they allow a reduction of the thickness of the unbound base course.
EnkaGrid MAX & EnkaGrid MAX C geogrids exhibit optimal interaction with most granular soil types. It can be used in every natural aggregate as well as with recycled material. The interaction between the geogrid and granular material minimizes particle movement. This interlocking effect prevents lateral spreading of the base material and delivers tensile stiffness to the subbase. EnkaGrid MAX provides excellent durability and resistance to installation damage. EnkaGrid MAX C combines the additional functions of separating and filtering the soil & other granular materials adding to the quality of the construction.
When no creep deformation is allowable in reinforcement or stabilization layers, EnkaGrid TRC geogrid is the right solution. Suitable for use on weak soil, EnkaGrid TRC delivers reinforcement, separation and filtration in one easy-to-install product. The high stiffness of the geogrid composite reinforces the base course beneath roads over weak subsoils. At the same time the nonwoven prevents fine particles from migrating up into the sub-base, thus enabling in-plane water flow during compaction of the sub-base.
Available geogrids
This is EnkaGrid MAX C
EnkaGrid MAX C is a high-performance and cost-effective biaxial geogrid composite used worldwide in civil engineering projects for reinforcing granular base courses and separating different soil layers.
It is designed for achieving maximum bearing capacity and shear resistance. The incorporated fleece ensures long-term filtration stability and provides ideal separation of different soils ranging from clay to coarse granular fill.
EnkaGrid MAX C is available in different strengths, aperture size and tensile strength with different filter fleeces for long-term efficient soil reinforcement.
This is EnkaGrid MAX
EnkaGrid MAX is a biaxial geogrid made of extruded polypropylene strips. These are laser-welded to form the finished product.
The unique EnkaGrid MAX production technology ensures that the geogrid’s junctions deliver the same stress-strain performance throughout the matrix.
EnkaGrid MAX is available in different strengths, and the aperture size and individual tensile strength are designed to provide the required in-plane stiffness and interaction needed for long-term efficient soil reinforcement. EnkaGrid MAX can be delivered in rolls measuring up to five meters wide.
This is EnkaGrid TRC
The biaxial geogrid EnkaGrid TRC is made of an aramid fiber grid covered by durable polyester nonwoven fabrics.
As a multifunctional geocomposite, this high-performance geogrid not only reinforces. It also acts as a separator and filter for the soil layers.
The geogrid possesses a high modulus combined with a maximum strain value of just 3.5 % at break. For maximum speed of installation, EnkaGrid TRC is available rolls with a width of 5 m.
